Afghanistan Exports $18 Million Worth of Carpets to Global Markets

The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that in the current solar year, Afghanistan has exported carpets and kilims valued at 18 million US dollars to global markets. According to the ministry, carpet production in the country has also increased compared to previous years.
Afghan carpets are among the country’s most important non-agricultural export items and have held a special place in foreign markets for years due to their quality and traditional patterns. This industry serves as a source of income for thousands of families in various provinces, especially in rural areas.
Although the Taliban administration speaks of increased production, industry activists have consistently emphasized the need for practical support, better access to international markets, and resolving banking and transit challenges. Facilitating sustainable exports and supporting producers could play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s economy and improving the livelihoods of its residents.
