One Thousand Jeribs of Land Allocated for Cold Storage Facilities in Panjshir

The Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department of Panjshir has announced that approximately one thousand jeribs of land have been allocated for the construction of modern, standard cold storage facilities in the province. According to officials, these lands were identified after technical surveys and verification in seven districts as well as in the provincial center, Bazarak.
Fazlullah Diyuband, head of the department, stated that the technical team has reviewed the proposed sites and large, standard cold storage units will be built on these lands. The purpose of these facilities is to provide suitable conditions for preserving agricultural products and fresh fruits.
Panjshir is one of the country’s mountainous provinces, where a significant portion of the population depends on orcharding and fruit production. The lack of standard cold storage units in recent years has caused many farmers to face difficulties in properly preserving and selling their products during the harvest season.
However, the Taliban administration has not yet provided details regarding the budget, start date, or completion timeline of this project. Experts believe that transparency in project implementation and effective monitoring are essential to practically support farmers and prevent the loss of agricultural products.
