First UNICEF Humanitarian Flight Delivering Food Aid Arrives in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that the first of three humanitarian flights carrying life-saving food aid has arrived in Afghanistan. This shipment, funded by the European Union and coordinated with UNICEF, includes 20,000 packs of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF). The aid is intended for immediate distribution to treat children suffering from severe malnutrition across Afghanistan. Ready-to-use therapeutic food is a specialized product designed for children with acute malnutrition, requiring no special preparation and playing a critical role in reducing mortality caused by malnutrition. UNICEF has previously warned about rising malnutrition cases among Afghan children and emphasized the continuation of humanitarian assistance to address health needs in various parts of the country.
