UAE, Iran, and Iraq Call for Restraint Amid Rising Afghanistan-Pakistan Clashes

Amid escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Iraq have issued separate statements urging immediate restraint and a return to dialogue.

The UAE Foreign Ministry stated that disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic means. The country emphasized that escalating conflicts could threaten the security and stability of South Asia, and that confidence-building efforts and dialogue respond to the people’s desire for peace and development on both sides.

In a separate statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry expressed concern and regret over the increase in violence, warning that continued clashes would have serious humanitarian and security consequences for the region. Tehran stressed respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of all countries, called on Kabul and Islamabad to promptly resume dialogue and engagement, and announced its readiness to assist in reducing tensions.

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry also stated it is following recent developments with deep concern and urged both parties to show patience and prioritize diplomatic solutions. The ministry added that rising violence and casualties could further endanger regional stability.

These reactions come as reports have emerged of civilian casualties, including women and children, following recent attacks. Under such circumstances, the Taliban administration, as the governing authority in Afghanistan, is expected to act responsibly by managing tensions to prevent the escalation of the crisis and further harm to civilians.
