Atta Muhammad Noor Urges Taliban to End Violence Following Shooting of Former Afghan MP Reza Zada

Following the shooting of Karamuddin Rezazadeh, former representative of Ghor province in the Afghan Parliament, Atta Muhammad Noor issued a statement calling on the Taliban administration to cease “assassination, violence, crime, and bloodshed” and to prevent the country from sliding into further crisis.

Without explicitly naming the perpetrator, Noor addressed the Taliban on the social media platform X, writing, “Do not invite or force us into war, struggle, and bloodshed.” He emphasized that Afghanistan needs reason, patience, and an end to bloodshed more than ever before.

According to sources, Karamuddin Rezazadeh was shot on Tuesday, February 23, in the city of Karaj, Iran, by an armed individual riding a motorcycle. The assailant fled the scene immediately after firing.

Sources added that two bullets struck Rezazadeh’s body, and his medical condition is reported as critical. He is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Iran.

No official information has been released regarding the motive behind the shooting or the identity of the attacker. However, the rising insecurity and ongoing threats and violence against former political figures have raised concerns among citizens and political activists. These events have once again brought into question the Taliban administration’s responsibility to ensure security and prevent the escalation of violence.
