Afghan Citizens Travel to Indonesia for Training to Strengthen Drug Prevention Programs

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Afghanistan has facilitated an educational trip for a number of Afghan citizens to Indonesia. The purpose of this trip is to strengthen drug prevention and treatment programs based on scientific evidence.
This program was organized in cooperation with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Additionally, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has supported this initiative.
According to published information, participants in this trip visited Indonesia’s experiences and programs related to the prevention, treatment, and management of drug addiction. Such training programs are launched with the aim of exchanging experiences and enhancing professional capacities in combating drugs.
Afghanistan has faced significant challenges related to drug production and consumption in recent years, and international organizations have consistently emphasized evidence-based approaches to reduce the social and health harms caused by drugs.
