Taliban Ministry Signs $24 Million Contract to Rebuild Chak-Daimirdad Road in Maidan Wardak

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works announced the signing of a contract with the private sector worth 2.04 billion Afghanis (approximately $24 million) to reconstruct the 60-kilometer Chak-Daimirdad road. The spokesperson indicated that construction work will commence soon.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas stated that the project aims to improve transportation and facilitate the movement of goods and agricultural products in the Chak and Daimirdad districts of Maidan Wardak province. Upon completion, residents of these areas are expected to benefit from better transportation facilities.
Maidan Wardak province serves as a connecting route between Kabul and some central provinces. For years, residents of the mentioned districts have complained about damaged roads and difficulties accessing markets. However, the Taliban administration has not provided details regarding the exact completion date or the quality oversight mechanisms for the project.
Infrastructure experts consistently emphasize that transparency in contracts and effective monitoring of project implementation are essential factors for the success and durability of such initiatives. It is expected that these issues will also be addressed in the execution of this project.
