At least 38 miners have died and 27 others have been injured following a mine explosion in Plateau State, located in central Nigeria. The incident occurred on Wednesday, with the majority of the victims being workers at a lead mine.

Local sources told Agence France-Presse that the explosion took place in one of the mines in the state. According to these sources, the evacuation of the injured to medical facilities began immediately after the accident.
