Several Afghan Central Bank Employees Detained in Farah Over Revenue Loss Allegations

Local sources in Farah province confirm that several employees of the Afghanistan Central Bank, including the deputy head of the branch, have been detained following allegations of revenue losses. These individuals were arrested by the Taliban intelligence agency about ten days ago and remain in custody.

According to a knowledgeable source who wished to remain anonymous, investigations into these employees are ongoing. The arrests came after concerns were raised about losses or revenue reductions at the Central Bank’s Farah branch.

However, the exact amount of money reportedly missing from the treasury has not been clarified, and no official figures have been released.

Local Taliban authorities in Farah as well as the Afghanistan Central Bank, which operates under Taliban control, have yet to provide any clarification regarding the incident. The lack of transparency in the information disclosed and the families’ lack of knowledge about the detainees have further heightened concerns over how financial cases and detention processes are being handled by the Taliban security agencies.
