UN Development Program Prioritizes Employment and Basic Services in Afghanistan’s 2026 Agenda

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative in Afghanistan announced that creating job opportunities, expanding basic services, and addressing the impacts of natural disasters are among the main priorities for the agency in 2026. He emphasized that the programs will focus on responding to the urgent needs of citizens across the country.

Stephen Rodriquez, the UNDP representative for Afghanistan, told Ariana News that the allocated budget for the current year is approximately 120 million dollars. According to him, this amount is not sufficient to implement all the planned programs.

Expressing gratitude to donor countries, he called for increased financial support to address the needs of the Afghan people. Rodriquez stressed that the continuation and strengthening of international cooperation can play a key role in improving living conditions and developing vulnerable areas.
