Construction Begins on Four Seasons Wholesale Market in Herat with $5 Million Investment

Local officials of the Taliban administration in Herat have announced the commencement of construction work on a Four Seasons wholesale market in the province, with a budget of five million dollars. According to the Herat provincial media office, the project is designed on an area of 65 jeribs of land and is expected to be completed within the next six months.

According to the released statement, the market will be built in four sections and will include approximately 600 shops. Additionally, a large mosque is planned as part of the project.

One section of the market will feature a cold storage facility built on 25 jeribs of land, with the capacity to store 20,000 tons of agricultural products. Establishing cold storage units for agricultural goods in agriculture-based provinces like Herat is considered an essential need for farmers and traders.

Although Taliban officials have announced a six-month timeline for completing the project, previous development projects in the country have faced delays or shortages of resources. Therefore, the residents of Herat hope that the implementation process will be transparent and closely monitored to ensure the market becomes operational within the scheduled time.
