Taliban Deputy Consul in Mashhad Meets Afghan Traders, Urges Investment in Afghanistan

The deputy consul of the Taliban administration in Mashhad held a meeting with several Afghan traders and economic activists residing in Iran, emphasizing the necessity of their investment within Afghanistan. According to the Taliban consulate in Mashhad, Noor Mohammad Mutaqqil listened to the problems and challenges faced by the traders during this session.
According to the office, topics related to economic activities and the obstacles Afghan traders encounter in Iran were discussed in the meeting. The Taliban deputy consul also urged the merchants to transfer their capital and economic capacities to Afghanistan and to participate in domestic projects.
Mutaqqil proposed the creation of an advisory council aimed at regularly addressing the traders’ issues. It was reported that this suggestion was welcomed by several traders present at the meeting.
While there is a strong emphasis on investing inside Afghanistan, many Afghan traders have shifted their activities abroad in recent years due to the economic situation and existing restrictions. Traders expect the Taliban administration to build trust and provide practical measures and guarantees to support investment.
