Thousands of Patients in Gaza Face Life-Threatening Crisis Amid Power Shortages

The director of Al-Shifa Hospital complex in the Gaza Strip has announced that the lives of thousands of patients in this medical center are in serious danger due to worn-out power generators. According to him, the continuation of this situation could completely disrupt critical health services.
Mohammad Abu Salmiya stated that since the ceasefire came into effect, no new medical equipment or power generators have arrived in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that healthcare facilities in the area are facing severe shortages of equipment and resources and are unable to meet the needs of patients.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that from October 7, 2023, until now, 72,051 people have died as a result of Israeli military attacks. According to the ministry’s statistics, the number of wounded has reached 171,706.
The ministry added that just in recent hours, the bodies of two casualties have been transferred to the hospital, and 15 others have been injured. Thousands more remain missing under the rubble in the Gaza Strip.
Official reports state that since the ceasefire began on October 11, 2025, 591 people have been killed and 1,598 others injured. Additionally, during this period, the bodies of 726 deceased individuals have been recovered from under the debris.
The Gaza Strip, as one of the most densely populated Palestinian areas, has been facing a severe humanitarian crisis, a shortage of medical resources, and extensive infrastructure destruction since the start of the war. The continuation of this situation has heightened concerns about the fate of civilians and patients.
