China Warns US Support for Taiwan Separatists Could Lead to Conflict

Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, has warned that US support for separatist movements in Taiwan could escalate tensions and even lead to conflict between Beijing and Washington. He emphasized that the Taiwan issue is a “red line” in China-US relations.
According to Wang, some circles in the United States are trying to curb China’s progress and growth. He added that any attempt to separate Taiwan from China directly threatens the stability of bilateral relations.
The head of China’s diplomatic corps also attributed the inefficiency of the international system to countries that consider themselves superior to others. Without naming anyone specifically, he criticized this approach and called it an obstacle to global cooperation.
In another part of his remarks, Wang addressed the war in Ukraine and supported Europe’s active role in the peace process. He said Europe should not be a mere bystander and needs to participate effectively at the negotiating table.
The senior Chinese diplomat stated that Beijing is not a direct party to the Ukraine war and that the final decision to end the crisis does not rest with China, but it supports putting pressure on the involved parties to achieve peace.
He also welcomed the start of talks between Europe and Russia and urged the European Union to present its plans and proposals to resolve the crisis.
The latest round of Ukraine peace talks took place in Abu Dhabi with representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Despite several rounds of dialogue, the war continues, with territorial disputes standing as the main obstacle to reaching an agreement.
Both Russia and Ukraine are striving to maintain and expand the areas under their control, seeking an upper hand both on the battlefield and at the negotiation table.
