UN Chief Guterres Calls Ramadan a Message of Hope Amid Ongoing Wars and Hunger

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, marked the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan by describing it as a time for reflection, prayer, and renewing hope for peace. However, he highlighted that millions of people across various parts of the world continue to suffer from war, hunger, displacement, and discrimination.

He pointed to the dire situations in countries such as Afghanistan, Yemen, Gaza, and Sudan, stating that current crises have made civilians extremely vulnerable. According to him, the ongoing conflicts and restrictions have left many families deprived of the most basic human rights and needs.

The UN Secretary-General urged global leaders and communities to heed the enduring message of Ramadan, bridge divides, and take concrete actions to assist those in need. He emphasized that preserving human dignity and ensuring the fundamental rights of every individual must be a top priority.

Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, residents face severe economic and humanitarian challenges alongside extensive restrictions under Taliban rule. International organizations have repeatedly warned about the consequences of this situation and called for urgent attention to the needs of the people.
