Contracts Signed to Launch Five Energy Projects with Total Capacity of 845 MW

The Economic Deputy of the Office of the Prime Minister has announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, contracts will be signed to start five major electricity production projects with a total capacity of 845 megawatts.

According to the provided information, these contracts will be signed between the Azizi Group of Companies and Afghanistan Breshna Company. The signing ceremony will be attended by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Economic Deputy of the Office of the Prime Minister, and Mairoos Azizi, General Director of the Azizi Group.

These projects include electricity production from solar and coal energy sources—resources that the Taliban administration has emphasized developing in recent years as part of efforts to reduce dependence on imported electricity.

However, economic experts consistently stress that the success of such projects depends on contract transparency, sound management, and the guarantee of public interests—a matter that, in the absence of independent oversight and accountability of responsible institutions, has raised concerns among residents and energy sector activists.
