Amu TV Reports Child Laborers Face Sexual Abuse in Taliban Detention Centers

Amu TV has reported that some child laborers have been subjected to sexual abuse while detained by Taliban officials, raising serious concerns about children’s rights in Afghanistan.

According to the report, several children who experienced detention by the Taliban told Amu TV that they faced humiliating behavior and sexual harassment during their detention. These children emphasized that they had no opportunity to file complaints or access support organizations.

The report also states that a number of child laborers said the Taliban forcibly removed them from the streets under false promises of aid and support, and transferred them to Taliban-affiliated shelters. According to these children, instead of receiving support, they were given training related to the concept of “jihad” in these centers.

This report once again highlights criticism of the Taliban’s treatment of children, particularly child laborers and orphans—who, according to internationally accepted principles, should be protected from all forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation, yet in practice face serious dangers.
