Pakistan Releases 123 Afghan Migrants from Prisons, Sends Them Back to Afghanistan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has announced that 123 Afghan migrants previously imprisoned in Pakistan have been released and returned to Afghanistan. According to the ministry, the repatriation process was carried out through the Spin Boldak border crossing.
The statement revealed that these migrants had been held by Pakistani police for varying durations, ranging from one day up to two months. No further details were provided regarding the reasons for their detention or their legal status.
The ministry also noted that over 100 other Afghan migrants had been released from Pakistani prisons and transferred back to Afghanistan just last week, indicating a continued trend of detaining migrants without transparent procedures.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Pakistani police have intensified the detention of Afghan migrants across various cities and regions. In response, Amnesty International has called on the Pakistani government to halt illegal detentions and deportations of Afghan migrants and to uphold its human rights commitments.
