Afghan Zone Governors’ Meeting Held in Kandahar to Discuss Key Political and Security Issues

The office of the Taliban governor in Kandahar announced that the governors of seven Afghan zones gathered in a meeting in this province to discuss important political, security, and economic matters.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, the 1st of Dalw, by the media office of the Kandahar governor, the governors of Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Kunduz, and Paktia provinces participated in this meeting. It was noted that, in accordance with the Taliban leader’s decree, these officials also hold the responsibility for provincial leadership at the zone level.

The meeting primarily focused on combating narcotics, addressing the issues faced by returning Afghan refugees, and evaluating trade-related facilities. There was also a strong emphasis on the implementation of the edicts of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada across all provinces in the country.

The statement further added that the Taliban governors referred several critical matters to the office of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada in Kandahar for final guidance. This underscores the highly centralized decision-making structure within the Taliban administration and the limited local authority held by provincial officials.
