Roof Collapse in Herat Kills Five Family Members

The roof of a residential house collapsed in the Obe district of Herat province, resulting in the death of five family members. The incident occurred in the Kabkan village, and all the victims belonged to the same family.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, the spokesman for the Herat governor, stated that among the deceased were two children aged three and seven. According to him, the accident happened while the family members were inside the house.
Based on the information provided, heavy rainfall was the main cause of the roof collapse. In many rural areas of Herat, houses are built with basic facilities and lack technical standards, making them vulnerable to natural events.
However, the absence of effective programs by the Taliban administration to improve housing conditions and address the vulnerability of residents in remote areas has been constantly criticized. Such incidents once again highlight the urgent need to focus seriously on the safety of residential homes.
