Turkey’s Defense Ministry: Israel is the Main Cause of Instability in West Asia

Turkey’s Ministry of Defense has stated that, in its view, Israel has played a central role in creating instability and chaos in West Asia regionally and globally over the past two years. In an official statement, the ministry identified Israel’s activities in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and other areas as key factors perpetuating ongoing crises.

The statement also expressed hope that the coming year will be one in which the Palestinian people achieve their right to live with dignity. Turkey’s Ministry of Defense emphasized that despite international community reactions and actions, they have so far failed to prevent continued killings and what have been described as inhumane acts against Palestinians.

Referring to ongoing operations and tensions in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, the military institution added that Israeli officials’ rhetoric and threats against regional countries persist, with the international community unable to control the situation.

In another section of the statement, the Turkish Ministry of Defense addressed Syria’s situation, affirming support for the country’s territorial integrity and unity. The ministry accused the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of threatening Syria’s stability and territorial unity by refusing to integrate into the Syrian army.

According to the ministry, SDF elements continue to emphasize decentralization and federalism and have taken no practical steps to join the central Damascus government—an approach that Ankara believes harms Syrian national unity.

The ministry stated that Turkey has close cooperation with Damascus based on the principle of “one country, one army” and is closely monitoring any potential process of integrating SDF forces into the Syrian army. It also emphasized that if Damascus undertakes initiatives to strengthen Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, Turkey will support them.
