Southern Yemen Transitional Council Condemns Saudi Coalition Attack on Hadramout as Aggression

In the latest reactions to developments in Yemen, the Deputy Head of the Southern Transitional Council, affiliated with the UAE, described today’s Saudi coalition attack on Hadramout province as an “aggression” and labeled it an assault on civilian areas.

According to regional media reports, Hani bin Breik stated that Saudi Arabia officially attacked Hadramout and its civilian port, Al Mukalla, justifying the action with excuses he called invalid. The port of Al Mukalla is considered one of the important ports in southern Yemen.

These remarks came after the Saudi coalition targeted the port of Al Mukalla in Hadramout province early this morning; the area is reportedly the site of forces affiliated with the UAE, according to local sources.

Meanwhile, Rashad al-Alimi, the self-proclaimed Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Council, backed by Saudi Arabia, took a harsh stance against the UAE, describing its role in Yemen’s internal affairs as “incendiary.” He announced the cancellation of the joint defense agreement with the UAE and called for the withdrawal of UAE forces from across Yemen within 24 hours.

Al-Alimi also declared a 90-day state of emergency across Yemen and stated that ports and crossings would be closed for 72 hours. He added that forces under his command have been ordered to take control of military centers in Hadramout and Al Mahrah provinces.
