Deputy Head of Taliban Intelligence Killed in Kabul Home Explosion

Mawlawi Nauman, the assistant to Abdul Haq Wasiq, the head of the Taliban’s General Intelligence Directorate, was killed at his home in the Bat Khak area of Kabul city. Official Taliban authorities have not yet provided clear details about the exact cause of this incident.

However, informed sources have indicated that his death apparently resulted from a gas balloon explosion; this claim has not been officially confirmed or denied by responsible institutions.

Following the news, several Taliban supporters on social media posted messages expressing condolences over the death of this Taliban member. At the same time, some social media users and Taliban supporters claimed that Mawlawi Nauman’s children were also injured in the incident and transferred to a hospital for treatment.

As of the time of this report, official sources have not confirmed the injuries to Mawlawi Nauman’s children. The lack of transparency in reporting security incidents has once again raised questions about how the Taliban’s security institutions in Kabul manage incidents and their accountability.

Abdul Haq Wasiq, the head of the Taliban Intelligence Directorate, is considered a prominent figure of the group who was active in intelligence during the Taliban’s first period of rule. He was detained by U.S. forces after the September 11 attacks and spent more than a decade in Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
