Russia Reports Ukrainian Troop Withdrawal in Sumy Province after Heavy Losses

Russia’s security service reports that Ukrainian armed forces have withdrawn some of their military units from Sumy province in northeastern Ukraine after suffering heavy casualties.

According to the report, units from the 119th Territorial Defense Brigade and the 58th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, along with special forces of the Ukrainian Border Guard, have pulled back from certain positions in the province. This retreat followed intense clashes.

The Russian security service added that in the Krasnopilskyi area, Ukrainian forces were forced to fall back to more secure positions deeper within the province due to high losses. The statement also mentioned the withdrawal of a special battalion and several border troops.

Furthermore, the statement noted that a Ukrainian airstrike by the 103rd Brigade targeted territorial defense positions near Pavlivka, resulting in the deaths of several Ukrainian commanders. Russia emphasized that Ukrainian military casualties in these clashes were heavy.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a day earlier that forces affiliated with Russia have taken control of the village of Zarichne in Zaporizhzhia province; indicating ongoing fighting on multiple fronts between the two sides.
