Taliban Administrative Delegation Visits Islam Qala Border in Herat

A delegation appointed by the Taliban’s Prime Ministry, led by deputies from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Public Works, and Transport, along with the General Director of Customs from the Ministry of Finance, traveled to Herat province and visited the Islam Qala border crossing.

According to a statement from the Herat Governor’s office, the main purpose of the visit was to examine the existing challenges and problems at the Islam Qala border and to seek solutions to facilitate greater ease in exports and imports. Islam Qala is one of Afghanistan’s most important trade gateways with Iran and plays a critical role in the transit of commercial goods.

The delegation also held separate meetings with traders and truck drivers to listen to their views and concerns. Local officials said that the issues raised will be shared with the Taliban administration’s cabinet for further review and decision-making.

Traders have consistently emphasized that slow transit processes, lack of standardized facilities, and weak management at this crossing have negatively impacted their economic activities—a matter that practical and transparent attention to could significantly improve trade conditions and reduce costs.
