Israeli Minister Calls Attack on Qatar a ‘Correct Action’ Amid Controversy

In a recent statement by Israeli officials, Amichai Shikli, Israel’s Minister of Immigrant Affairs, described the recent attack on Qatar as a “correct action” and defended efforts to assassinate Hamas leaders in Doha, remarks that have sparked widespread reactions.

According to Arab media, Shikli harshly criticized Qatar on Tuesday evening during an interview with Hebrew radio station 103FM, labeling the country as the “capital of the Muslim Brotherhood” and an “unfair mediator” in the prisoner exchange negotiations. He claimed Qatar’s role has slowed progress on the prisoner swap issue.

The Israeli minister emphasized that Tel Aviv acted “correctly” in its recent military operation on Qatari soil and added that future dealings with Doha should be based on this approach, a stance that clearly contradicts Israel’s officially declared policy.

These statements come after the Israeli army conducted an airstrike on the city of Doha on September 9. The attack resulted in the death of a Qatari security officer and several others, including members of the Hamas leadership office. Qatar condemned the action as a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and reserved the right to respond.

Following this incident, on September 29, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized during a phone call with the Qatari Prime Minister, with U.S. President Donald Trump present, expressing regret over the breach of Qatar’s sovereignty and the killing of the Qatari security personnel.

Israel’s attack on Qatari territory faced widespread condemnation across the Arab world and the international community, with many countries and organizations deeming it inconsistent with international laws and principles.
