Taliban’s Ministry Signs Contract to Electrify Qush Tapa and Darzab Districts in Jawzjan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Water and Energy has announced the signing of a contract with a private company to implement an electrification project for the Qush Tapa and Darzab districts in Jawzjan province. The project aims to supply electricity to residential areas in these two districts.

According to provided information, the total estimated cost of this project is about 1.886 billion Afghanis, with practical work expected to be completed within three years.

The Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that within the framework of this project, a 220-kilovolt power transmission line extending 85.24 kilometers will be constructed, along with two substations and two distribution networks in the Qush Tapa and Darzab districts.

Taliban officials have said that upon completion, thousands of families will gain access to electricity. However, experts emphasize that transparency in implementation, effective monitoring, and ensuring sustainable access to essential services are critical responsibilities of the executing agencies in such public-benefit projects.
