International Project Supports Women’s Trade in Baghlan, Afghanistan

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan has announced that Shazia’s business, one of the female entrepreneurs in Baghlan province, has attracted customers from across the province and inspired other women.

According to the report, the WE-ACT project, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has strengthened the capacity of 180 women-managed small and medium enterprises in three districts of Baghlan.

This program, focusing on enhancing economic skills and improving women’s access to employment opportunities, has helped create jobs and stabilize livelihoods at the local level.

At a time when women in Afghanistan face widespread restrictions in accessing work and economic activities, international organizations emphasize that supporting women-led small businesses can play a vital role in the economic resilience of families and local communities.
