Afghan and Iranian Investors Sign Deal to Build Cellophane Factory in Balkh

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Afghan and Iranian investors to establish a factory producing plastic food packaging and cellophane in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province. The project carries an investment value of five million US dollars.

According to the agreement, the factory will be built in one of the industrial zones of Mazar-i-Sharif and will focus on manufacturing packaging materials used for food products—items that are widely utilized in Afghanistan’s domestic markets.

Investors stated that the project could enhance industrial activity and strengthen economic cooperation between entrepreneurs from both countries, while also reducing Afghanistan’s reliance on imported packaging materials.

Thanks to its strategic location and access to trade routes, Balkh province has become a key hub for industrial and commercial investment in Afghanistan in recent years.
