Afghans Sue UK Ministry of Defence Over Data Leak

According to British media reports, a group of Afghans who were put at risk due to a data management error by the UK Ministry of Defence have initiated legal proceedings against the department.

Nearly 1,000 individuals are reportedly preparing to file an official lawsuit, with their lawyers stating that the move comes in response to the leak of sensitive information and its serious consequences.

Published information suggests that following the disclosure of a database, the personal details of approximately 25,000 Afghans and their family members were exposed. This breach could pose a significant threat to their safety and security.

Lawyers representing the Afghan claimants have announced that they are seeking compensation of at least £50,000 per person and are holding the UK Ministry of Defence responsible for the incident.
