Herat Shia Clerics Stress Ethnic Unity to Thwart Foreign Influence

The Council of Shia Clerics in Herat has emphasized that growing unity and solidarity among Afghanistan’s ethnic groups is a key factor in preventing foreign interference and enemy conspiracies. This message was delivered during a council meeting held on Tuesday, which was attended by a number of religious scholars and local elders. Participants expressed their strong support for the Taliban administration.

Mohammad Ismail Ahmadi, head of the Herat Council of Shia Clerics, highlighted during the gathering that national unity and harmony serve as an effective antidote to various challenges and crises. He stressed that religious scholars have a fundamental role in raising public awareness and strengthening this unity. Ahmadi also acknowledged the Taliban administration’s role in fostering greater unity among Afghanistan’s diverse ethnic communities.

Another cleric, Abdulhadi Wathiqi, underscored the importance of utilizing the current environment to bolster national cohesion and build public trust. He further pointed to the necessity of ensuring a stable future for the country. This meeting marked the second time the Shia clerics of Herat have openly expressed support for the Taliban administration, aiming to enhance national solidarity and public alignment with the current government.
