Turkey Delivers 12th Humanitarian Aid Shipment to Afghan Red Crescent in Herat

On Wednesday, Turkey delivered its twelfth humanitarian aid shipment—totaling 1,271 tons—to the Afghan Red Crescent Society in Herat province. The aid, consisting of both food and non-food items, was sent to support families affected by natural disasters in Afghanistan.
Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, Director General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, stated during the handover that the distribution process will be closely monitored to ensure the relief goods reach those truly in need across all provinces. He highlighted that the Red Crescent has provided extensive assistance this year in earthquake-affected provinces such as Kunar, Balkh, and Samangan, where it has maintained medical camps and distributed hot meals.
During the same ceremony, Sheikh Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Herat, expressed gratitude for the organization’s efforts in alleviating human suffering and confirmed the local administration’s readiness to assist in the aid distribution process.
Tuzjan Qazioglu, Turkey’s Consul General in Herat, noted that his country has not abandoned the Afghan people during difficult times and will continue its support. He stressed that this assistance is aimed at helping disaster victims and playing an effective role in reducing humanitarian challenges.
Relief experts in Afghanistan say that despite such international support, humanitarian needs remain vast. They also pointed out that the Taliban administration’s lack of effective crisis management programs has placed the primary burden of aid delivery on international organizations and charities.
