Taliban Commerce Minister Meets Chinese Ambassador to Boost Economic Ties

Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, has met with Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, along with a delegation of Chinese officials. According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the meeting focused on addressing challenges faced by Chinese investors in Afghanistan and exploring ways to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

The ministry’s statement said that one of the goals of the meeting was to create new opportunities to increase trade volume and attract foreign investment. Both sides reportedly emphasized the need for improved legal frameworks, streamlined goods transportation, and greater investment security to enhance trade ties between Kabul and Beijing.

During the discussions, Azizi stated that Afghanistan is ready to provide all necessary support to Chinese investors in order to facilitate the investment process. He assured that the Taliban administration would do its utmost to reduce obstacles.

While Taliban officials speak of growing cooperation with China, economic experts argue that the lack of a clear legal structure, insecurity, and the absence of guarantees for foreign investors remain major obstacles to establishing sustainable economic relations between the two nations.
