Friendship Gate Destroyed in Spin Boldak After Border Clash

The Friendship Gate, a key crossing point between Afghanistan and Pakistan at the Spin Boldak-Chaman border, was completely destroyed last night following intense clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani military units. Images shared on social media clearly show the extensive damage, once again highlighting the long-standing tensions along the border between the two nations.

According to Taliban officials, Pakistani troops violated a previously agreed ceasefire by firing into Afghan territory on Wednesday night, prompting what they described as a “firm response” from Afghan security forces. The incident occurred in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, an area known as one of the busiest and most strategic border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Such border incidents have occurred repeatedly over the years, often sparking concern among local residents and causing disruptions to trade and humanitarian movement. The recent violence and infrastructure damage come at a time when Afghans are grappling with serious economic and security challenges, highlighting the urgent need for responsible management and de-escalation by both sides.
