Former Afghan Official Criticizes Politicians’ Reliance on US Amid Midterm Election Reactions

Fazl Mahmood Fazli, head of administrative affairs in the former Afghan government, strongly criticized some Afghan politicians for their reactions to the results of the US midterm elections. He noted that these figures initially welcomed the election outcome but subsequently called for the US government to cooperate with Afghan parties to establish political stability.

Fazli described this dependence on foreign powers, particularly the United States, as a thought-provoking and regrettable issue. He stated that expecting stability in Afghanistan through foreign interventions, especially from a country like the US, is unacceptable. He remarked that it is surprising that individuals with over half a century of political experience still believe a foreign country can bring stability to Afghanistan.

These remarks come at a time when political developments in the US and the results of its midterm elections have once again drawn the attention of some Afghan political factions and figures. Some of these individuals hope that changes in the US political structure will influence Washington’s policies towards the Taliban administration and create opportunities for new initiatives to resolve Afghanistan’s political crisis.
