48 Rehabilitated Drug Addicts Reunited with Families in Baghlan

Local authorities in Baghlan province report the successful rehabilitation of 48 drug addicts who have now been returned to their families following the completion of treatment.

Mullah Mohammad Nabi Kamran, the head of counter-narcotics at the Baghlan police command, said the individuals had undergone treatment and care for 45 to 90 days at drug rehabilitation centers. With relative improvement in their conditions, they have now been discharged.

According to Kamran, over the past three years, more than 4,000 drug addicts from various areas of Baghlan have been collected and treated. He added that around 180 individuals are currently undergoing treatment at two separate facilities within the province.

Kamran called on families and local residents to cooperate with relevant institutions to prevent the spread of drug addiction among youth. This comes amid continued criticism of the Taliban administration, which, despite its claims of tackling drug issues, has yet to achieve sustained and comprehensive results. Drug addiction remains a serious societal issue in Afghanistan.
