Taliban-Appointed Envoy Attends Malaysian Islamic University Graduation Ceremony

Naqeebullah Ahmadi, appointed by the Taliban as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Malaysia, took part in the 41st graduation ceremony of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

According to a statement released by the Taliban-controlled Afghan embassy in Malaysia, the event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including members of the royal family of Pahang state, representatives from foreign countries, and multiple diplomats.

During the ceremony, students from various countries—among them young Afghans who had completed undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees—received their official graduation certificates.

The official participation of Taliban representatives in international academic events comes at a time when the group continues to violate the fundamental rights of the Afghan population, particularly the right of girls to education. Attending such events without addressing their domestic repressive policies raises serious questions about the legitimacy of their foreign representation and their commitment to academic values.
