Italian Foreign Minister’s Personal Data Leaked on Dark Web by Cybercriminals

Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Foreign Minister, announced on his social media account on X that his personal information has been leaked on the dark web by cybercriminals. These groups are reportedly attempting to obtain more data about him and his family members. According to Tajani, these criminals have offered to pay in exchange for additional information. Tajani linked this cyberattack to Italy’s political stance in support of Ukraine, stating that defending Ukraine’s sovereignty, democracy, and independence is considered a dangerous act by these criminal groups. The Italian Foreign Minister declared that his response to these threats is straightforward and that he will not be intimidated. He also mentioned that the establishment of a special cybersecurity office within Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this year is part of measures to counter cyber intrusions related to hostile state entities. Tajani emphasized the continuation of Italy’s cooperation with its allies to confront cyber threats.
