Kremlin Spokesman Calls US Post-Election Events Internal Matter, Hopes for Trump’s Continued Peaceful Approach on Kyiv

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidential administration, responded to a question regarding the possibility of Congress obstructing Donald Trump after the US elections by describing the issue as an internal matter and refraining from commenting further.

He added that Moscow hopes Trump will maintain his peaceful strategy concerning the Kyiv crisis following the congressional elections.

Peskov emphasized that the elections and political developments in the United States remain an internal affair. Russia closely monitors these trends but does not interfere in US domestic matters.

These remarks come amid reports by Politico that a significant number of Republican Party members are concerned about Trump’s unpopular decisions, such as the potential involvement of the US in a war with Iran and his harsh statements, which could lead to decreased voter support for the party.

These concerns could have a significant impact on the election outcomes and future US policies, and consequently on international relations, including the Ukraine crisis.
