China Calls for Dialogue and Regional Cooperation to Ease Iran-US Tensions

Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressing the rising tensions in West Asia, stated that Beijing supports reducing the disputes between Iran and the United States through negotiation and dialogue. He added that China seeks to strengthen consultations and cooperation with Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other regional countries to restore stability and security in an area currently facing threats. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson also emphasized the importance of a political resolution to the Yemen crisis, noting that Beijing aims to find a comprehensive solution to reopen vital routes such as the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the security of maritime navigation and energy transit. Mao Ning expressed hope that the Gulf countries will establish a new security framework based on mutual respect and constructive engagement, a structure that is sustainable and beneficial for all. As a key economic partner of Iran, China has repeatedly warned in recent months against the expansion of conflicts in the region and has presented diplomacy as the primary approach. Additionally, on November 2, 2026, Wang Yi, China’s acting foreign minister, met in Beijing with Iranian and Saudi security officials to discuss regional developments. China also announced the dispatch of its special envoy for Middle East affairs to Iran, Oman, and Saudi Arabia to continue diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
