Over 4,900 Surgeries Performed at Indira Gandhi Hospital in the Past Year, Taliban Health Ministry Reports

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has reported that in the past year, 4,975 major and minor surgeries were performed at the Indira Gandhi Specialized and Tertiary Hospital. Of these, 3,593 were major surgeries and 1,382 were minor surgeries, all carried out by experienced Afghan specialist doctors.

According to the report, outpatient services were provided to 141,789 patients, and inpatient services were offered to 23,324 patients free of charge. The ministry had previously claimed that many surgeries which required patients to travel abroad are now being successfully conducted within the country.

However, the development of health services remains limited. Although the construction of public hospitals in certain areas has begun, residents of remote regions of the country still need the establishment of more health centers to facilitate their access to medical care.
