US Ready to Mediate to Reduce Tensions Between Pakistan and the Taliban

Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, stated in a press conference that his country is aware of Pakistan’s security concerns regarding terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil. He emphasized that Washington does not want Pakistan to be targeted by terrorist attacks and takes Islamabad’s concerns seriously.
Rubio, referring to the existing tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan, said that the United States would play a constructive role in reducing disputes between the two parties if the opportunity arises. However, he clarified that there are no close relations between the US and the Taliban.
These remarks come at a time when relations between Pakistan and the Taliban administration have been heavily affected by armed attacks and security concerns. The Pakistani government has repeatedly accused the Taliban group of using Afghan territory to threaten its security, a matter that has caused significant political tension in the region.
The Taliban administration has not yet issued an official response to the statements from US officials, but these issues have raised widespread concerns about regional security and the role of foreign actors in complicating the situation.
