German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Says US War on Iran Has Cost Europe Over €100 Billion

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has acknowledged that the eight-month-long war imposed by the United States against Iran has burdened Europe with more than €100 billion in costs. He attributed the majority of this financial strain to the sharp rise in energy prices.

Previously, Germany had taken hostile stances toward Iran, supporting the aggression of the US and the Israeli regime. However, now, witnessing the negative consequences and the spread of tensions toward Europe, Germany is attempting to adopt a more peace-seeking tone, advocating for diplomatic solutions. Merz, without naming the main perpetrators of the crisis, called on the involved parties to engage in dialogue and reduce tensions.

At the same time, German Foreign Minister Jörg Wacker called for the start of negotiations with Iran and the end of conflicts in Yemen and Ukraine. He asserted that Iran must come to the negotiating table, Yemeni fighters should cease their attacks, and Russia must end its aggressive actions.
