Taliban morality office says it held over 2,400 awareness sessions in one month

The Taliban-run Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and Complaints Handling says it held 2,458 reform and awareness sessions with different segments of society during the month of Mizan this year.

The department added that during the same period, 388 complaints related to women’s sharia rights were addressed, underscoring the continuing restrictions and difficulties faced by women under the group’s rule. It also said 49 cases involving enmity and 175 ethnic and family disputes were resolved.

At the same time, Taliban officials said 32 people were arrested on suspicion of practising witchcraft. These measures are seen as part of the department’s strict policies to control social behaviour, which have raised broad concerns over human rights violations and limits on individual freedoms.
