Zelensky Says Engine Shortage Is Limiting Ukraine’s Interceptor Drone Production

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the country cannot produce enough interceptor drones to counter Russian drones because of a shortage of engines.

In an interview with the Financial Times, he said Ukraine imports some of the engines it needs and manufactures others domestically, but the total of imports and local production is not enough to meet the country’s needs.

Zelensky described the engine shortage as one of the main obstacles to expanding interceptor drone production and said Ukraine is testing five models of the drones.

According to him, Ukraine plans to produce about 400 units of one model by the end of October, while four other models are still in the testing stage.
