Turkish Ambassador Bids Farewell to Taliban’s Acting Refugee Minister

Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban administration, held a farewell meeting on Tuesday with Turkish Ambassador Cenk Ünal in Kabul, whose diplomatic mission has come to an end.

During the meeting, the Turkish ambassador expressed satisfaction with the cooperation extended by the Ministry of Refugees and thanked the Afghan people for their hospitality. Ünal noted that during his tenure, relations between Kabul and Ankara had expanded significantly, particularly in trade, transit, politics, and public welfare projects.

He emphasized that the Turkish government remains committed to supporting the Afghan people and has actively sought to encourage other countries to engage with the Taliban administration on international platforms. Turkey, he added, will continue to support initiatives in health, education, and economic development in Afghanistan.

Maulvi Abdul Kabir expressed appreciation for the roles Turkey and Qatar have played in facilitating dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, describing Turkey’s role in the Islamic world as significant. He also stressed the importance of principled treatment of Afghan migrants in Turkey, adding that improving the visa issuance process could help reduce illegal migration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the need to maintain communication and strengthen ties between Kabul and Ankara. Maulvi Abdul Kabir wished Ambassador Ünal success in his future endeavors.
