Taliban administration asks India for help equipping Afghan medical facilities
The Taliban administration, in a continued effort to secure external assistance for the health sector, has asked for cooperation in equipping and supporting several Afghan medical centres during a meeting with India’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul.
The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health said acting minister Noor Jalal Jalali discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the health sector with Yatin Patel, India’s chargé d’affaires. According to the ministry, Jalali asked India to support the Indira Gandhi Hospital and provide vaccines for communicable diseases.
The Taliban Ministry of Public Health said the requests also included supplying equipment needed for the cancer hospital, increasing the capacity of health workers and activating the thalassemia department.
According to the Taliban Ministry of Public Health, Yatin Patel assured that India would continue its health cooperation with Afghanistan.
Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kabul is one of the country’s well-known medical centres, particularly for child health services, while the thalassemia department provides care and treatment for patients in need of ongoing support.
