Iran Allows Some Afghan Students to Continue Studies Despite Incomplete Documents
The head of the Department for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs in Iran’s Razavi Khorasan provincial government has said that some Afghan students will not be barred from continuing their education in the new school year, despite problems or deficiencies in their residency documents.
Seyed Jafar Seyedabadi said the measure applies to students whose residency papers are incomplete, but who have one parent with legal residency documents. He said the process is being carried out based on the latest instructions issued by the Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs Center.
Speaking at an event in Razavi Khorasan, he stressed that the registration and education of migrant students must be carried out within the framework of the laws and procedures set out. According to the Iranian official, follow-up on migrants’ educational issues must also be done in line with the same regulations.
The head of the Department for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs in Razavi Khorasan also expressed hope that, with the implementation of this instruction, the conditions for the continued education of eligible students would be provided.
Razavi Khorasan is one of the provinces bordering Afghanistan and is among the main places of residence for Afghan migrants in Iran; the education of migrants’ children in this province has always been tied to residency regulations.
