667 People Returned to Afghanistan in a Single Day, Taliban Says

The Taliban administration said 148 families, comprising 667 people, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan yesterday.

Hamdullah Fitrat, a Taliban spokesman, said in a statement on Tuesday, 24 Sunbula, that 64 families, comprising 334 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province.

According to the statement, seven families, comprising 35 people, entered the country via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.

The Taliban administration also said 63 families, comprising 250 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Silk Road route in Nimroz province, and 14 families, comprising 52 people, came back through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province.

Torkham, Spin Boldak and Islam Qala are among Afghanistan’s most important border crossings with Pakistan and Iran, while Nimroz has also been one of the main routes for the movement and return of Afghan migrants in recent years.
