Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Says Fighting Has Stopped on West Coast
Yemen’s Supreme Political Council has said fighting in the country’s western coastal areas has stopped after Saudi-backed forces were driven from those areas.
In a statement, the council said military operations in the western coastal strip had ended after the “destruction and repulsion of gatherings” of forces affiliated with what it called the Saudi enemy.
The Supreme Political Council also stressed that it remains committed to all its international obligations regarding the security of navigation in the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, Arab media had previously reported that Yemen had taken control of the strategic islands of Zugar and Greater and Lesser Hanish in the Red Sea.
According to news sources, Ansarullah fighters and Yemeni armed forces have also consolidated their full control over the “al-Amri” military base, which overlooks the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the key maritime passages.
